Chocolate Flavor| New Year Special | Healthy & Tasty| Special for Kids

There are many varieties of Burfi available in India. We all have our favorite flavor of burfi. But the combination of carrot and chocolates, it’s an unbelievable tasty and healthy combo of flavors. Carrot gives a nice and smooth texture and chocolates give its great flavor to the sweet. I use cocoa powder and chocolate both in this recipe and make it more chocolaty. Chocolate and Carrot Burfi is one of my best experimented burfi recipes. Everyone loves chocolate especially kids. This recipe of burfi is the best for them. Because I use a carrot as a base for this sweet to make tasty as well as healthy. I use few ingredients to make this sweet like of course carrot and chocolate, khoa kheer, cocoa powder, and I flavored this sweet with cinnamon and some chopped chocolates which give this sweet extra chocolaty flavor. And most importantly it is a very easy recipe to make your kids happy.

Method
  • Now for making the burfi first peel the carrots and grate finely. Take fresh and sweet carrots for this recipe. You have to peel them because we don’t want to the thread or sting part of the carrots to the sweets. Use finely grated part of the grater, the carrot should be grated finely to make these sweets.

  • Now add oil or butter to the frying pan and heat well. I prefer butter because it gives more flavors to the sweet. Now add one medium size cinnamon stick to the oil for tempering. Fry for at least 10 seconds so the earthly flavor of cinnamon could rise up. Now add the finely grated carrots to it. Mix and fry for 5 minutes or until the raw smell of carrot is completely gone. This time keep the flame on medium otherwise the carrots could be burnt.
  • After frying the carrots add the milk and sugar to it. Mix properly. Then cover it and cook for almost 5-6 minutes. This time keep the flame at medium low. You can stir the carrots two or three times during cooking so it would not stick to the pan.
  • After 5-6 minutes add cinnamon powder and cocoa powder to it then mix properly. Now do not cover the pan. Keep flame on medium and keep stirring continuously. When the mixture gets gluey on the pan then add khoa kheer to it now mix quickly all and make a gluey mixture.
  • Then turn off the gas. Now add the chopped chocolates to it mix quickly. Take a plate brush some butter on it now place the cooked mixture and spread evenly. Use your hand to spread and make even. Now sprinkle some chopped pistachio all over it and press them using hands so it sticks on it. Now refrigerate it for at least 6 hours to set.
  • After 6 hours the sweet should be set well. Now cut into diagonally to give a shape of a burfi. Serve this homemade chocolate and carrot sweet to your guests and family.
